20 weeks old
Jane's sleeping habits are changing a little. She was sleeping though the night every night, but 5 of the last 7 nights she's been waking up a few times. I'm not sure if she's teething or going through a growth spurt, but either way she's growing up! She's also gaining weight slowly, After a low weight a month ago, we've been supplementing her feedings with formula. She's slowly gaining the weight she needs and is a happy girl. She likes to sit up in peoples' laps and watch what's going on around her. She's playing with rattles and toys more (instead of dropping them) and knows to reach for things in front of her. Basically she's a smart, healthy, beautiful baby!

Chill out
The weather has finally warmed up to higher than 70 degrees, but for the last week or so I noticed that our house seemed unusually warm. And we didn't know what was going on, because the AC was blowing, and it was sort of cooler than the rest of the air in the house. And we kept moving the thermostat down like... maybe if we put it to 30 below we will stop sweating? Actually, we had it set to seventy, and the in-house temperature read 78 degrees. And then 80. And then 81. And it was 10:00 at night! Finally at 2am last night Jane woke up crying, and I picked her up and her back was all sweaty. Was I dreaming or did the thermostat say 85? I can't be sure if that was my sleepiness or not. So we opened all the windows (since it was 10 degrees cooler outside), and stuck Jane in the basement where it was cool and she could sleep the rest of the night. And the AC ran all night... with the windows wide open, and when I woke up I think the thermostat said it was 78 degrees. I told Michael that I was either calling a repairman or moving into a hotel with Jane... and he went outside and tinkered with it and voila! Cold air! Cold, refrigerator-like air. To celebrate we have it at 50 degrees and are walking around in our winter coats and wool socks. Just kidding. But Jane is wearing more than a diaper, which is more than I can say for yesterday.

Toes
I love this picture. Just within the last week, Jane has found her toes! She likes to grab them and play with them if nothing else is available. Sometimes she tries to put them in her mouth, but she can't quite pull them up all the way, and that seriously makes me laugh. Here's how it works: "Oh, hey, look at these fun things! I should play with them. I wonder what they taste like... Nuhh! Nyuuuh!... I didn't need to taste them anyway."
I love that baby.

Sleeping beauty
She's such a heavy sleeper at night, and sleeps so lightly in the daytime, it's almost baffling sometimes. The loud click of the camera when I took this startled her, and she just sunk right back into dreamland. There's no way I'd get away with that during the daytime. If I tried it, she'd look at me and say, "Nice one, Mom. Just for that, why don't you try nursing me for 20 minutes before I go back to sleep, eh?" And if I don't put her to sleep in her swing during the day - let's say I lay her in her crib or in the crook of the couch - she only sleeps for 10-20 minutes. But in her swing she can pull off an hour, maybe more, maybe less. But put her in her crib when the sun's still up? Fogettaboutit.
