Jane claps!

Jane clapped her hands for the first time today!  She was watching a baby video and got really excited about the music, and just started clapping her hands.  Normally when she's excited she waves her arms up and down, but today when she was eating lunch I clapped for her when she took good bites, and I think she must have picked up on it.  Michael took a video, and even though I'm embarrassed that I look like a ragamuffin, I have to share it because it was her first time clapping her hands!

I took these pictures earlier in the day, and I just can't decide which smile I love best:

You make messy look beautiful

I thought it was so funny when I saw how many crackers ended up stuck to her body as opposed to in her mouth, I had to take a picture:

Jane has been learning how to feed herself with the crackers.  At first she'd pick on up and bring it to her mouth, but didn't realize that she needed to turn her hand towards her face so that the food could get in.  She'd just bring the back of her hand to her mouth and the cracker in her palm couldn't get in.  So just this week she's learned that she needs to turn her hand around!  Today I saw her very consciously look at her hand and then rotate her wrist so her palm was facing her mouth before she tried to eat.  Amazing.

How did that cracker end up on her nose?  I often wonder how bits of food manage to get stuck in her hair or in her eyebrows.  You can see her two bottom teeth in the photo below.  She now has two teeth up top to match!

Jane, I love you even covered in mushy bits of crackers.

Thanksgiving Day!

This is Jane in the car on the way to our Thanksgiving dinner. I sat in the back with her so she wouldn't get lonely, and she was so happy and cute that I had to take a picture!

Jane wore a special red knit dress for Thanksgiving, with white stockings of course!

Jane took a walk (with Grandma's help) around the house.  I love her dainty little footsteps!

Jane also loved looking at the fishes!

Now I have to wash her hair

Somehow I knew dinner was going to be messy today.  Must be the "mom-dar" they installed in my brain when I was in the hospital.

Get Ready

Jane's first Thanksgiving is coming up in just a few days! Should we find some turkey-flavored baby food?

She's got warm fuzzies

The weather has really gotten cold and I can't get away with thin onesies anymore when Jane has to leave the house, so we broke out all the padded, fleece-lined, long-sleeved, fuzzy things that could possibly fit her. Today was her first trip out in her "warm wear." You can see the soft fuzzy booties in the photo on the left, and her pants and sweater are lined with pink fleece. And isn't that sweater cute? Someone gave it to me at my baby shower, who was that?

Tooth #4

Tooth #4 has been working it's way out this week.  When it comes through all the way, Jane will have her two front teeth!  Do you think that's really all she wanted for Christmas?

By the way, her shirt says: 50% Mommy, 50% Daddy, 100% Perfection.

Dancin' with Grandma!

Jane was rocking out with Grandma tonight!

Book worm

Today we decided to tackle the blanket peek-a-boo video, and it came out pretty nicely, except Jane seems a little more quiet than usual. She is normally squealing in glee the entire time, so you can add that in mentally as you watch.

I've also been meaning to get a video showing how well Jane can turn pages.  She's been able to do it really well for a couple of months, and it seems a little silly to do a video now when it's been happening for awhile.   But we took a video last night anyway.

To everything (turn, turn, turn) there is a season (turn, turn, turn) And a time for every purpose under heaven.  Turn those pages, baby Jane!

My future's so bright, I gotta wear shades...

Today I went to patronize my local evil mega-mart with Jane.  It snowed last night and even though it mostly melted away today, it's been windy and cold so she got a chance to wear her new sweater.  When I got Jane out of the car the sun was blinding for some reason, and I remembered that I still had Jane's glasses from the summer in the diaper bag.  I put them on her and she looked so darn cute I had to take some pictures with my phone.

Peek-a-boo

Jane knows how to play peek-a-boo really well.  She usually does it with a blanket that she holds herself, but today she figured out she could just pop behind the wall and back.  I'll try to get a video of her doing it with a blanket, but here's the wall version that I caught today.

Home again

We came home yesterday.  The tree in our front yard is fully yellow and dropping leaves like crazy.  Jane has been having fun re-discovering the house and making the most of her slightly better mobility.

You again

We had to see the doctor again today due to a severe diaper rash Jane has (very sad on top of her difficulty sleeping in a new place).  Michael and I were in the waiting room with Jane and Michael tipped her backwards and as she giggled he said, "Oh, hey, she has a new tooth."

This is tooth #3!  It's on the top in the front (the left front tooth, looking at Jane).  I took a look and it looked like it had just barely punched through in the last 24 hours.  Jane had been having almost constant diarrhea (sorry) that was caused by her teething which we didn't even realize was going on.  And the diarrhea caused her horrible diaper rash, for which she was prescribed a cream that had to be specially mixed at this one pharmacy.  I am hoping it works quickly because Jane has been hurting really bad, screaming through every diaper change and when her tush touches the floor she squeals in pain.  The doctor even seemed alarmed when she saw it.  So, last time she teethed she got an ear infection in both ears, this time she has a horrible diaper rash -- what else can teething possibly do?!

November 3

It hasn't been a smooth transition for Jane sleeping in a new place.  But she's getting better at it.

Change of scenery

We are staying at Grandma's house for a little while since she just came home from the hospital yesterday. Jane likes the new digs! She also likes to "help" Grandma by pulling everything off of the low tables onto the floor.  So helpful!  Grandma will get lots of exercise picking things up.  =)
