Baby Noises

Today we took Jane to a restaurant for the first time (Rodizio Grill). She slept pretty much the whole time (convenient!), but both of her parents were so tired that it was a little hard to enjoy it anyway. Oh well!

We visited Jacque's house yesterday, and Jane did this funny position while uncle Kimball was holding her.

It may say 0-3 months, but she still doesn't quite fit into it yet.

I was playing the smile game with Jane this morning, and I caught this cute picture.

Also, look at her cute chunky thighs! I know they're not that chunky, but they are compared to the skinny thighs she was born with. Don't you want to squish them?

4-weeks old today!

She was really sleepy when we took this, so cute!

Glo-worm

So many people came to visit today! Jacque came in the morning and then Erika and Doug in the afternoon. I think Doug might be having trouble with his nieces. Jane was laying peacefully on Erika's lap, and Doug lightly touched her face and she freaked out! Maybe someday he'll have to pay her $5 for hugs, too. Just kidding, he held her for like half an hour straight and she was perfectly happy.

Jacque said Janie looks like a glo-worm. Remember those?

Tired

We are very tired today.

Dressy

We went to a wedding reception today, so Jane decided to dress up for the occasion. It was her first time wearing a dress! We thought she was pretty darn cute in it.

From the thinker to the napper

Look at her cheeks. I like to squoosh them. I also like her purple plaid onesie. I also really love this blanket. I picked out the fabrics, and it looks really yellow here, but it's really these soft pastel stripes and polka dots - super cute. It's actually becoming a problem because she's spit-up on it a half dozen times, but I can't part with it long enough to wash it. Someone save my baby from her irresponsible mom!


Yesterday we got her social security card in the mail. She's a real person now! And she's got a GREAT number, too. I would tell it to you, but I don't want you to steal her identity and go around masquerading as a newborn. But if you want to act like one and take a nap, that's okay.

My daughter, the elf

One of Janie's ears is pointy. Or at least it looks pointy most of the time. In the hospital I noticed that her left ear looked a little crumpled... I guess it was smushed weird in the womb. The nurse told me it would fill out in time, and it has, but not completely. So these days it looks pointy a lot of the time and it feels like I'm holding a little Vulcan child (or an elf, if you're more into fantasy than sci-fi).


But if I pull her ear out a little, I can see that all of the normal tissue is there, it's just folded around so you can't see it or it's in shadow.


What about the other ear? It's completely normal. So she's half-Vulcan, just like Spock.

Three weeks

Jane is three weeks old today.

Either the outfit we brought her home from the hospital in shrunk, or she is getting bigger!

Crazy day

Today is Michael's first weekend break since he returned to work. He didn't get much sleep because he's catching up on holding Janie. But it gave me a chance to get a lot done...

Today my friend Adrienne came by and made us a wonderful dinner! (And very patiently held Jane for this photo). Did I mention she is 6 months pregnant herself? Amazing!

Yay Olympics...

We are watching the Opening Ceremonies together right now. Janie is thrilled. When she can keep her eyes open.

Daddy couldn't help getting her this outfit the other day, do you like it?

About last night? Don't ask. It was bad.

The thinker

Last night I got to sleep for SIX hours. Six glorious hours. Plus, she smiled at me when I smiled at her - three times! And tonight she smiled when I started singing to her. That was way better than any applause I ever got.

Tonight is Michael's first night back at work, so wish me luck.

Bathtime!

We got her a bathtub today and tried our first real bath (instead of sponge baths).
